Bournemouth Hayward Saturday League 0  Dorset Premier League 1

The Dorset Premier League just got the better of the Bournemouth Hayward League 1-0 in the first of the BDH INTER-LEAGUE COMPETITION games on Wednesday night at Victoria Park. The decisive goal came after 18 minutes of the first half when Tom Willis met Joe Toghill’s corner at the near post to score with a glancing header. It was an evenly contested game with chances at both ends. DPL’s Joe Toghill was only just wide of the far post early in the second half after excellent work by Joe Wood while, minutes later at the other end, Bournemouth’s Ben Mowlam narrowly failed to provide the finishing touch after combining well with Tom Faulkner. As the scoreline suggests, there was some excellent defensive work by both sides and the Man of the match award went to Hayward League full back Washington Gwenzi. The Dorset League got their campaign off to a flying start in the new BDH Inter League Competition when they defeated their visitors to Wimborne Town FC,  The Hampshire Premier League.

Dorset Premier League 3  Dorset Football League  0

The DPL moved to the top of the BDH League after securing a 3-0 win against their Dorset counterparts in an entertaining game. Linaker carved out the 1st chance of note in the 6th minute for the hosts however his shot was saved, the DFL went close through Welch in the 12th minute from a corner however his effort went past the near post. Moments later and Isaacs for the visitors found himself in on goal, again though he dragged his shot wide. Smith’s header for the DPL went close following good work from Sharpe on the half hour. The deadlock was finally broken in the 32nd minute after Jevon for the DPL had picked the ball up, he advanced and shot from distance, 1-0. A good finish. On 46 minutes, Porteous for the visitors saw his shot saved by Bleazard, Wood flashed a shot passed the DFL post in the 53rd minute. With an hour played Smith reacted well to the 2nd ball in the visitors defence to turn & swivel and fire home to extend the DPL’s lead, 2-0. The visitors continued to look for a reply, Astons header from a corner went wide in the 67th minute. The DPL kept attacking as the game wore on, Harvey saw an effort go close in the 85th minute, back came the visitors and Aston again saw his effort saved by the home custodian. With 3 minutes to go, Smith released Wood who beat the off side trap to slide the ball home and seal an excellent nights work for the DPL, 3-0.
Both sides deserve great credit for the manner in which the game was played and for producing a good game for those in attendance.
